About TF Diagrams
TF Diagrams turns Terraform files into cloud architecture diagrams and dependency graphs you can explore, right in your browser.
Why it exists
Terraform describes infrastructure precisely, but a folder of .tf files is hard to picture. Reviewing a pull request, joining a new team or explaining a stack usually means drawing the diagram by hand, and that drawing goes stale as soon as the code changes. TF Diagrams draws it from the code itself, so the picture always matches what Terraform will build.
How it works
A small HCL parser reads your files and finds every resource, data source, module, variable, local, output and provider, along with the references between them. From those references it works out where each service lives (cloud, region, VPC, availability zone, subnet) and draws it with the provider’s official icons. The same model powers the dependency graph.
All of this runs in your browser. There is no backend that receives your code, and no account to create.
What it supports
- AWS, Google Cloud and Azure resources in one diagram engine.
- Loading individual files, whole folders or pasted code.
- Exporting the graph as a PNG for docs, pull requests and slides.
Expressions aren’t evaluated, so count and for_each aren’t expanded and module internals aren’t followed. .tf.json and .tfvars files aren’t loaded yet.
Support the project
TF Diagrams is free and built in spare time. If it saves you an afternoon of drawing boxes, a coffee via the button in the corner is much appreciated.
